Joel Schlessinger and his wife, Nancy, recently made a monetary donation to One World Community Health Center’s Baby Boutique program. One of One World’s newest projects, the Baby Boutique has already seen great success assisting families in need.
Joel Schlessinger’s donation helps expectant parents provide for their newborns.
Baby care items add up quickly and become a large financial responsibility for new parents. Many of the under-privileged families served by One World Community Health Center struggle with the mounting cost of frequently used items like diapers and wipes. The Baby Boutique assists expectant parents with the purchase of newborn essentials such as diapers, wipes, bottles, clothing and more. Parents earn “Baby Bucks” toward purchases at the onsite Baby Boutique when they attend prenatal care appointments. These bucks may then be exchanged for newborn necessities.
Donations like Joel Schlessinger’s have helped over 500 parents in the Omaha area.
Since opening In September of 2013, more than 500 new parents have visited the Baby Boutique to redeem Baby Bucks for brand-new items. In addition to providing much-needed supplies, the program creates an added incentive for seeking proper care and education throughout pregnancy.
Located in under-served neighborhoods, OneWorld Community Health Centers, Inc. focuses on meeting the primary health care needs of the greater Omaha community. Joel Schlessinger and his family have made several donations to One World in recent years, and they are happy to support one of the Center’s most unique and valuable programs.
