Dr. Joel Schlessinger offers donation to support Pine Ridge ReservationPosted by in Community
Dr. Joel Schlessinger donated a free Silkpeel to benefit the efforts of Friends of J Medicine Hat, a group of volunteers continuing the mission of Jent “J Medicine Hat” Monk. This organization is dedicated to improving conditions on Pine Ridge Reservation and helping residents lead healthier lives.
The Silkpeel donated by Dr. Joel Schlessinger and the LovelySkin Spa was placed in a large silent auction during an event that included comedic and musical performances by individuals like Heather Jones, The McGuigan Brothers, Liberty Monk and James Johann. Proceeds from this event will be used to promote better way of life on the reservation, while donated items like diapers, food, clothing and toiletries will be given to Healthy Start, a nonprofit committed to promoting healthy pregnancies, children and parenting tactics.
J Medicine Hat used his talents as a comedian and hypnotist to raise money for Pine Ridge Reservation and scholarships to assist Native American students with college expenses. He opened shows for acts that included Jerry Seinfield, Dennis Miller, Roseanne Barr, The Beach Boys and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Pine Ridge Reservation is located in South Dakota and home to the Oglala Sioux Tribe. The reservation spans across 2,000,000 acres with an estimated population of 40,000.
